Assignment 5 Shotcut: Video/Information/plans

Assignment 5

Cinematography:   24/25 - We used all types of angles and shots including text, picture in picture, split screen
Pre-production: 14/15 - included planning sheet of evidence of learning along with pics as evidence of work.
Programs: 20/20 - Made many attempts at making this asg. Used many functions in the program. Used Audacity as well to insert bensound sound clip and audio file.
Final Product: 23/25 - Overall happy with it, I would of like to make some minor changes but program wasn't working to full potential. Freezing and shutting down a lot.
Overall Quality: 14/15 - Well thought out and very useful for teaching in the classroom.

95/100

This is the start of our assignment, storyboard for something to follow. Worked on filming last night and we made notes and changes as necessary. We had 68 video clips of footage to use in this assignment, we had a still camera from different angles and John used a camera from different perspectives and angles giving different views. In the end we narrowed the videos down to 38 for the assignment. We used both text and 3d text added into parts of the video for info purposes as well. used the fade out filter and normalize filter as well.  We had 2 different spots where we put in picture and picture effect and split screen effect. The problem with this is it really lags the video behind and when doing audio overlay in audacity creates a problem having the voice recording line up with the video.
We tried over 5 times trying to change the video, made new audio files, taking out picture and picture and split screen to create a better audio to match the video. After creating the audio again to match with layout, then re inserted the picture and picture and split screen parts. This would be easy as we know exactly what were doing now, but the program is really frustrating. It can't keep up or I really don't know what's going on, but it continues to freeze and shut down making it difficult to actually get what you want it to be like.

This program would be very useful if it actually worked. It keeps crashing and freezing and is very frustrating when you want to make changes to your asg.  You shouldn't have to restart a assignment multiple times and still not much change. We managed to get one file to export to Mp4. The problem now is the voice over doesn't quite line up with the video when we get to picture and picture and split screen, because the program has to slow down so much to play the video in that section. Working on second export without the picture and picture and split screen as again the program keeps crashing and freezing. We spent at least 30 hours on this assignment so were pretty much fed up at this point. Did get a final cut made today where it match pretty close, enjoy!!!

4.       Don’t touch nozzle to work
-          Reduces nozzle life
-
5.       Beginners should use a drag cup

-          More power usually better
8.       Minimize pilot arc time
-          Minimize time in arc mode by starting your arc when ready to actually cut
