Write
a blog post about the ShotCut Program, How easy was it to use and how helpful
was the training. After these short training videos how easily do you
anticipate completing Assignment #5 Video. Take a good look at the assignment
itself and maybe post some ideas about the lesson or tutorial you are planning
on creating. Maybe also comment on how this could be applied to education or
classes you may teacher. ShotCut is another free tool that is Cross Platform
meaning it doesn't matter if you have a Mac or a PC.
The ShotCut training was short clips describing the how to use the program. I watched them twice now and also a few others on YouTube making notes along the way. The program itself doesn't seem to difficult to understand, although the work involved to get to a finished product is.
The lesson that John Germs and I have chosen is how to use a plasma cutting machine. This is a new machine in my shop that we never had and wanted to make something worthwhile. We decided to work together on this project as it was going to be longer video and very difficult for one person to do.
So far we have gotten together a few times and discussed this assignment a lot. We have come up with a story board and then made adjustments and notes, as well as types of angles and video shots we want to take.
We plan on filming it over and over in several different takes with 2 cameras, one on a tripod and one mobile. Once we have about 30-40 minutes of raw footage we are going to edit and trim to size.
I can see this program being used by myself for my class, I plan on making more tutorial videos for the students to use a as a reference. I definitely see this being beneficial in other classes to give a different perspective and approach to teaching something. I have one video I made last year which is used all the time and the students love and get a kick out of.
Another bonus like all the programs that we have worked with is they are free and are available for both PC and Mac computers. This something schools should be looking at, although when I asked about getting them put on my school laptop was told they wouldn't be able to, so I had to borrow a laptop instead.
That will be an awesome video. Too bad that the plasma wasn't in your shop last summer when we took the welding class!
ReplyDeleteGood work Lance and John! It'll be something you can use for your in your teaching for sure, maybe not so much for T-Bird's Chritian Ethics :) I'm looking foward to viewing the video....maybe you can make me metal art work for my garden I didn't get to during our welding class from your new plasma cutter.
